The Village Experience
You will experience many aspects of traditional
village life in Bali. These range form the making of natural
coconut oil and coffee making to the preparation of offerings
and special foods that are an integral part of Balinese
life. The package begins in a typical Balinese village
where you will visit a home to get a taste of Balinese
architecture, home layout and functions, daily household

In
the relaxed atmosphere of Alam Sari you will be
able to meditate and/or practice yoga on a daily
basis or as often as you want to, with or without
a teacher. You can exercise your body by taken guided
or independent local bike rides or walks through
the beautiful Balinese rural landscape that surrounds
Alam Sari. We hire bikes and can provide maps to
those who want to walk or bike independently. You
may want to work out using the fitness equipment
in our exercise room. The facilities of our spa
featuring a range of traditional and other massages,
facials, pedicures and other treatments using natural
ingredients and the services of our experienced
masseuses are available for your use as is the outdoor
jacuzzi and indoor sauna. To complement your program,
enjoy the range of natural and delicious drinks
and foods that are served in our restaurant. |

Art of Bali
You will experience some of the range and depth of artistic
talent from Bali's past as well as its rich present day
artistic tradition.In successive days you will visit a
range of galleries featuring the earlier European artists
and teachers who left their mark on Balinese art. These
include Le Mayeur, Antonio Blanco, Walter Spies, Han Snel
and Arie Smit among others. A number of galleries exclusively
feature, or include, their work. The traditional styles
of Balinese painting will be experienced in visits to
traditional Balinese artists homes where the techniques
and works of a range of artists can be seen and, if desired,
purchased directly from the artists. Fabrics
of Bali
You will be able to learn the basic techniques of batik
making and weaving as practiced for generations in Indonesia.
You can choose the days you spend in each activity or
else plan an extended course in one form. An excellent
way to complete the experience is to take a day trip to
visit the weaving center of Gianyar to see fabrics woven
on hand looms. This trip also allows you to see the traditional
weaving of gringsing or double ikat weaving, as practised
in the Bali Aga village of Tenganan. • Batik

Stone, Clay and
Wood
You will be able to experience and learn the skills
associated with a range of carving and modelling
in different media-word, stone and clay. The choice
of media and the time you spend on each is yours
to make. We will arrange teachers and courses to
suit your requirements. Some activities will be
held at Alam Sari and some at the location of the

Music and Dance
Bali and Indonesia are hosts to a wide range of music
and dance forms. Many are unique. To learn these forms
may require some prior musical or dance/movement background.
You can choose from a variety of types of dance and music.
Capable teachers will instruct you and in the evenings
you have the opportunity to see the music and dance forms
performed in and around Ubud where dance and music shows

Indonesian Language
We are offering 10 hours of beginning, intermediate
or advanced conversational Indonesian language over
five days with an experienced Indonesian instructor.
Group or individual lessons would be daily for 2
hours in the morning, with the afternoons/evenings
free to enjoy sightseeing and relaxation.
Separate group lessons are also available for children
if numbers warrant. |
